This role manages bid and proposal activities prepared by the overall engineering staff, and individually manages and leads new electronic product development engineering projects. The Product Engineering Manager collaborates with staff on-site and at other locations across the U.S.

Responsibilities
Primary focus is to work with Business Development, Sales, and Advanced Technology groups to establish engineering bid and proposal needs for entire product line, coordinate bid and proposal preparation with functional engineering managers and engineering staff, schedule and participate in engineering bid reviews, assure that bids are approved by engineering leadership and submitted on-time. Forecast engineering resources required for the associated new business opportunities. Assist bidders on proposal process questions, and individually contribute to lead proposals or section of a proposal, when needed.

This position will manage and lead engineering development projects from kick-off to first article manufacturing. Working in coordination with program managers and lead engineers the position will assure product and contract deliverables meet customer requirements as it relates to technical, schedule, development and recurring cost objectives. Apply new development and new product introduction practices in the planning, execution and management of these projects.

Lead and support continuous improvement activities related to engineering product development process, verification and test, production readiness, and other related engineering areas using industry standard continuous improvement methods.

Qualifications
MINIMUM:
• BS Engineering.
• Five (5+) years of experience in product development, including group leadership on project or an engineering function.
• Five (5+) years of experience in electronic or electro-mechanical product design and manufacturing at a high technology company.
• This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by US export laws. In order to be eligible for this position, you must be a “US Person” under US export laws (or eligible for approval under a U.S. Government export license).
• This position requires you to be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

PREFERRED:
• Project management attributes of effective communication, organization, planning, budgeting, scheduling, risk identification, follow-up, decision making, change control, and achieving results.
• Experience in Defense Industry procurement processes and new electronic product development particularly in a RF, microwave, power, digital, and motion control electronic module and subsystem, firmware or software area.
• System engineering, reliability or supportability engineering experience.
• Experience in cost estimating, and successful bid and proposal preparation and review.
• Experience in use of Microsoft Project and resource requirement tools to plan and execute new product development projects.
• Used and applied Earned Value Management or metrics to assure positive project performance.
• Continuous improvement achievements in engineering organizations.
• Active SECRET security clearance.
